Alameda pitcher Bryan McKinney did his part in helping his team beat the Mancelona Torch, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Alameda reliever Israel Arant was credited with the win, to go to 2-4. Juan Soto took the loss for Mancelona. The 'W' lifts Alameda's record to 27-48.
Javier Marino provided some late-game heroics for Alameda. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a 1-0 curveball from Juan Soto and propelled Alameda to a 4-3 lead.
In comments to the Alameda Today, Marino admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
