Washington got a terrific performance from pitcher Rodas Aguilar, but it wasn't enough to beat the Columbia River Rats. Columbia won the Washington Park contest, 5-2. Aguilar was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The winner was Columbia reliever Jim Unknown, now 1-0. The loser was Jesús Salazar. Columbia is in second place in the Premier A with a record of 47-27.
Bob Miller broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the ninth with a run-scoring walk. It put the River Rats in front, 3-2. For the game, Miller drew 1 walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Columbia manager Dale Wolfe.
