Guzzlers right fielder Lee Allen put his stamp on his team's 6-2 win over the Belleville Bulls. Allen was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs for Galesburg in the contest. Tex Estes earned the win to go to 8-7. He allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. With the win over Belleville, the Guzzlers improved to 42-39.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Guzzlers sent teenager Silvio Bonauiti to the plate against Bulls hurler Rubén Ruíz. With a runner on 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 0-1 fastball to score 1.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Bonauiti, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
