Big Day at the Plate for Henry Not Enough
|
Though he had a great game, Todd Henry could not single-handedly produce a win for Oakland. Northern Virginia won the game, 4-2. Henry was named the player of the game. He was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. Natalino Golaio, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 7-5. Ilie Paunescu was credited with the save for Northern Virginia, his 10th of the season.
Jeonju, South Korea-born Ju-chan Pak came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Retrievers trailing 1-0, he hit a 3-run home run to left to put Northern Virginia on top.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Pak, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The 'W' lifts Northern Virginia's record to 39-65.
