The Galesburg Guzzlers were defeated, 6-5, by the Niagara Falls Expos. Leading the charge for Niagara Falls was catcher Pedro Torres. He went 1-3 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs. Niagara Falls reliever Jorge Alarcon picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Walt Cooley absorbed the loss. Cherles Gachineiro picked up the save for Niagara Falls, his 1st of the year.
Augusto Encarnación's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Walt Cooley for a run-scoring single. It put Niagara Falls in front, 6-5.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Niagara Falls manager Orlando Batista.
With the loss, Galesburg drops to 2-6.
