Sonics Topple Sixshooters with Late Rally
|
The Westwood Sixshooters got a sterling performance from pitcher Ray Mangas, but the Sonics still prevailed, 3-0. Mangas was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Atlantic City starter David Sherratt was credited with the win after throwing 114 pitches over 7.2 innings. His record now stands at 4-5. Ted Wright, credited with the save, is now 15 for 17 in save opportunities.
Atlantic City took a 2-0 lead on Chris Fries's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Westwood pitcher Kevin Samuels in the top of the eighth.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Fries.
With the win, Atlantic City goes to 33-43, while the Sixshooters fall to 42-34.
