Grey Wolves Cut Down Bowties, 6-2
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves picked up a win at Buckhead Grounds, knocking off the Buckhead Bowties, 6-2. Starting pitcher Bill Fletcher, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Fletcher got the win, improving to 10-3. He allowed 8 hits and walked 1 over 8.2 innings. Fletcher allowed 2 earned runs. Getting the save was David Hudson, his 25th.
Héctor Cortéz also delivered for the Grey Wolves. The veteran left fielder belted a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth. The longball put Vancouver on top, 6-1. Overall, Cortéz was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Cortéz said.
The 4th-place Grey Wolves now have a win-loss record of 39-29.
