BC Pull Back to .500 with Win over Hotspur Reserves
The Houston BC beat the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 4-2, at Houston Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman António Sánchez, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-3 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 runs. Kyle Boddy got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Katsuyoshi Takuda closed the door for Houston, picking up his 8th save of the year.

Sánchez came through with some timely hitting for Houston. With the score 1-0 in the bottom of the second and one down, Sánchez hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring triple. It was his 3rd triple of the season -- and a big reason the BC managed to win.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Houston skipper Yoshifumi Kamuta. "I can't complain."

The BC raised their record to 36-36.
