Piranhas Topple Retrievers with Late Rally

Northern Virginia pitcher Aurelio López gave the Piranhas all they could handle, but in the end, Panama City left The Tank with a 5-4 win. López allowed 3 earned runs on 3 hits over 7 innings. Panama City reliever Eduardo Capata picked up the win to move to 1-1. Logan Gregory suffered the loss. Panama City has now won 3 straight, while the Retrievers have lost 3 in a row.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 4-4, shortstop Armando Alvarado won it for Panama City. With the bases loaded, Alvarado hit a first pitch fastball from Logan Gregory for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 5-4 win.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Alvarado told the Panama City Citizen.
