Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Myrtle Beach Mermen got the win.

Myrtle Beach Mermen starter Shuntavyious Primes-Willes turned in a sterling performance against the Little Caesars Hot N Readys, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Francisco Gonsáles was called on to finish, recording his 24th save.

In the bottom of the fifth, Sergio Rodríguez had a big run-scoring single off Leif Mayer. With the single, the Myrtle Beach center fielder put his team in front, 1-0. He went 1-4 in the contest.

"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Rodríguez. "The only team that can beat us is us."

Myrtle Beach now sits in second place in the Silver AA at 44-31.
