The Marquette Miners eeked out a 5-0 win versus the Myrtle Beach Mermen at Tennille Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Bartolo Medina, who captured player of the game honors. With the win, the Miners improved to 36-26.

The most important at-bat for Marquette came in the top of the ninth inning, when designated hitter Carlos Trujillo stroked a first pitch fastball to left for a run-scoring single, putting Marquette up, 1-0.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Trujillo said.
