Rapiers Take Down Hot N Readys, 7-4
|
The Durham Rapiers trumped the Little Caesars Hot N Readys, 7-4, at Rapiers Ballpark. Durham right fielder Sean Godron was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Francisco Martínez, who threw 98 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. Durham, at 30-29, occupies 6th place in the Silver AA.
Godron had a game-changing double in the bottom of the fourth. On a 1-0 fastball from António Fernández, he banged a 2-run double to left, giving the Rapiers a 2-0 lead. It was the 12th double of the year for Godron.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Godron told the Durham Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
