The Myrtle Beach Mermen racked up a win at Ricochets Ballpark, bumping off the Salem Misfits, 6-4. Héctor Ocampo, who started for Myrtle Beach, pitched effectively for his team. Ocampo went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. The Mermen are now 15-8, while the Misfits fall to 13-10.
Sergio Rodríguez, the Myrtle Beach center fielder, contributed a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 6-3, Mermen. For the game, Rodríguez was 2 for 4 with a double and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Ocampo after the game.
