The Irving Blue Sox defeated the Durham Rapiers, 12-4, at Blue Sox Ballpark. Irving center fielder Rafael Delgado was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-6 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Arnie Banks got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The loss drops Durham to 1-1.

When the Blue Sox needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Delgado who delivered. Facing Durham pitcher José Morales the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded, Delgado hit his 1st home run of the year. It made the score 12-4.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Delgado.
