Shooters Pin 9-5 Loss on Grasshoppers

The Springfield Shooters beat the San Bernardino Grasshoppers, 9-5, at Field of the Grasshoppers. The Shooters got a fine performance from shortstop Sergio Delgado, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Dustin Richmond picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 3 in 5.2 innings. With the win, Springfield boosts its record to 1-1.
The Shooters beat the Grasshoppers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the single Juan Hernández produced in the top of the fourth. Batting against San Bernardino pitcher Arturo Villa, he gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
In comments to the Springfield News, Hernández admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
