Supernovas Turn Back Vermont, 2-1

Monster Field was the site of a competitive game between the Vermont Lake Monsters and Scranton Supernovas.
The Scranton Supernovas got a strong performance from pitcher Frank Bryant, who stymied the Vermont offense en route to a 2-1 win at Monster Field. In 8 innings, Bryant surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Bill Maddox earned the save, his 16th.
In the top of the 7th, center fielder Arturo Maldonado gave Scranton the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Supernovas had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out double off Vermont pitcher Tony Solíz changed that -- and Scranton went on to win.
"We did just enough to win," said Maldonado.
Scranton leads the Menard's AAA by 2½ games.
