Bay Hawks Pin 6-0 Loss on Buzz
|
Wilmington pitcher Ron Stone did his part in helping his team beat the Salt Lake City Buzz, 6-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Stone, now 3-2. He tossed 5.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Phil Hanson picked up the save, his 1st.
Tied up with the Buzz in the bottom of the fourth, the Bay Hawks got a boost from third baseman Phil Terry. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Terry saw a 1-1 fastball from Roberto De La Cruz and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Wilmington on top, 1-0.
"Nice to get this one," said Stone. "Wins have been hard to come by."
With the win, Wilmington goes to 8-22, while the Buzz fall to 13-17.
