Gómez on Fire: 6-for-7 for Port Royal Thursday, July 4th, 2024 Players get multihit games all the time. But a 6-hit game comes around only once in a blue moon. It happened at Spirits Stadium when David Gómez of Port Royal scattered 6 hits all over the ballpark against the Salt Lake City Buzz. He walloped 6 hits in 7 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Disaster get by the Buzz 12-8. In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the left fielder of the Disaster said, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 6-for-7. I could get used to a lot of days like this one." David Gómez singled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th. Presently Gómez is hitting .301 with 2 home runs and 20 RBIs. He has played in 39 games and scored 26 times. |
