Sweeny Must Sit Out 4 Games Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 It got ugly on the field today in the Reapers and Black Cats game, when Blair Sweeny was ejected for arguing balls and strikes with the home plate umpire. Before he left the dugout area, Sweeny threw a few bats and a garbage can on the field toward home plate. League officials thought the Grim catcher went too far and gave him a 4-game suspension. "Sometimes your emotions get the better of you and you just sort of lose control," Sweeny told reporters, "but that doesn't mean I was wrong, just out of control." This season in 54 games, Sweeny has hit at a .366 clip with 64 hits, 1 home run, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored. |
