Lawrence in Command, No-Hits Shooters Monday, June 6th, 2022 No hitters are rare. But the fans at Lionheart Field received a special gift as Rich Lawrence of the Lionhearts tossed a no-hitter against the Springfield Shooters. He was masterful as he struck out 9 and walked 2 in a 2-0 Lannister United victory. In all Lawrence faced only 29 batters. Lawrence did not appear to have his best stuff in the early innings, but soon got into a groove and made quick work of the Shooters. He was helped by several defensive gems along the way. The Springfield manager said to the press after the no-hitter, "We had our chances in the first few innings, when he was hittable, but he shut us down totally in the last 4-5 innings." "I had late movement that seemed to cause them a lot of trouble, especially from the fifth inning on," Lawrence said to reporters. Season-to-date Lawrence has rung up 1 win and 1 loss in 5 appearances. He has an ERA of 1.86 and has fanned 23 batters in 29 innings. |
