"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Nationals said to the press corps after the game. Vásquez agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Xavier Vásquez hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, doubled in the 7th, flied out in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.
