15-K Masterpiece for Cortéz Thursday, July 14th, 2022 20-year old left-handed pitcher Héctor Cortéz of the Walla Walla Walleye was something to behold at Walleye Tank. He fanned 15 River Rats en route to a 8-0 victory. Cortéz shackled Columbia on 2 hits and gave up 1 walk in an outstanding performance. "That's as good as I've ever seen him throw," his manager said. "I've never seen so many bad swings in my life. These guys didn't have a chance." As for Cortéz, he had very little to say to after the game. "We won and that's the bottom line. I had a good game. And we beat Columbia. Up to now Cortéz has compiled an ERA of 2.52 with a 3-2 mark over 9 starts. He has 54 strikeouts in 53.2 innings and has held opponents to a .244 batting average. |
