Disaster Blank Halberds, Costa Wins Thursday, June 24th, 2021 "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," the Disaster manager told reporters after today's game. The Halberds ran into a buzzsaw as Cipriano Costa cut them down to size 2-0 with a 5-hit shutout. His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one." In the complete game whitewash the Port Royal hurler doled out 2 walks and registered 3 strikeouts. In the postgame press conference his catcher said, "Cipriano goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be." Costa also got some praise from the Alloway manager. "He really kept us in check today. Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away... we took some pathetic swings." In the current season in 11 starts, Cipriano Costa has a record of 6-3 with 55 strikeouts in 77 innings and a 4.44 ERA. |
