Philadelphia 1776 Whitewashes D.C., Hoffman Winner Sunday, September 19th, 2021 Randy Hoffman of Philadelphia 1776 easily handled the D.C. Divided, stopping them on 5 hits and chucking a complete-game 4-0 shutout. "He really did a job on us," said the D.C. manager. "He had good command of his pitches. He changed speeds well and pretty much confused us. We never could zero in on him, but he certainly zeroed in on us." Hoffman said, "Everything was working for me. Throwing my breaking stuff over the plate was big." He finished the game with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in a solid outing. Up to now Hoffman has compiled an ERA of 1.56 with a 10-1 mark over 19 starts. He has 148 strikeouts in 161.1 innings and has held opponents to a .208 batting average. |
