Another Setback for Hotspur Granados, Forced to Retire
Friday, September 24th, 2021
"It's one of the worst injuries of its kind I have ever encountered." Those were the opening words of the specialist that treated Phoenix Hotspur starting pitcher José Granados for bone chips in his elbow. Speaking at a press conference, the doctor went on to say, "In my professional opinion, it is highly doubtful that José will ever play baseball again. Miracles are always possible, but not in this case. The original injury was treatable, but several setbacks during the rehabilitation worsened the situation and did more damage." The distraught Granados also spoke to reporters, saying, "I anticipated that the recovery would be slow, but I never expected this." Team officials said that the 22-year-old Granados would take a few weeks to decide about his future.

This season Granados has registered 1 win and 5 losses in 13 starts with a 4.78 ERA.
