Akers Week's Top Player Monday, September 7th, 2020 23-year-old Wayne Akers made a few Chesapeake headlines during this past week as the rookie right fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and USSL Double A officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 11 hits in 22 at-bats to put up a .500 average. Akers collected no home runs, 2 RBIs and scored 4 runs. This year Akers is batting .257 with 95 hits, no home runs, 31 RBIs, 60 walks, .363 OBP and has scored 52 runs. |
