Third League Selects Premier Rookie
Tuesday, October 6th, 2020
Lorenzo Sánchez's age didn't show very often in his first year. He performed more like a veteran on the hill for the Hartford Whalers and today he walked away with the 2020 Third League Newcomer of the Year Award.
The 21-year-old starter registered a 12-4 record this season in 18 starts. Over 130 innings he gave up 120 hits, struck out 110 and issued 26 walks as he held the opposition to a .245 batting average and fashioned a 2.15 ERA.
Pedro Alejándrez of the Panama City Piranhas finished second in voting, while Jorge Castillo of the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC finished third.
