Great Day for Russell -- 5 Hits Friday, August 9th, 2019 It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Mike Russell -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at Goldeyes Ballpark and paced the Screaming Eagles to a 10-5 win over the Santa Barbara Streak. After his dynamite batting performance the Mercer Island right fielder told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Mike Russell singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and walked in the 9th. To date this season Russell is hitting .324 with 4 home runs. |
