Hit Parade: Hayes Pops 5 Hits Friday, July 12th, 2019 Augusta catcher Phil Hayes could do no wrong in today's 14-2 win over the Lake Monsters as he collected 5 hits. "In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Lake Monsters said to the press corps after the game. Hayes agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Phil Hayes hit a two-run home run off Ed Jacobs in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Hayes is currently batting .349 with 6 home runs and 23 RBIs. |
