Big 3-HR Day for Silver
Monday, September 16th, 2019
Mike Silver, the California first baseman, put on a dazzling display of power today at Dunkin Donuts Park against the Boston Patriots. In the 18-2 victory Silver penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single day efforts.

What a display it was -- three home runs, 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored. It certainly was a day for the league record books.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," the Boston manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so good."

Talking about his theory of hitting after the game, Silver said, "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off. The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases ... or trot around the bases, like I did today."

So says the latest person to hit three homers in a game.

Mike Silver hit a three-run home run off Tom Reynolds in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Edgardo Marín in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, walked in a run in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Roy Robinson in the 9th.

For the season Silver is currently batting .278 with 20 home runs and 57 RBIs. In 98 games he has reached base at a .389 rate and scored 58 runs to date.
