Rice Raps Chicago for 5 Hits Wednesday, August 1st, 2018 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. It might come around only once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Chris Rice got one today. He scattered hits all over Gold Sox Field to pace Athletic Club KC to a 5-4 victory over Chicago. The Chicago skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Rice hit several that he is not supposed to hit." Chris Rice singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Lorenzo Marín in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 11th. This season Rice has banged out 61 hits in 188 at-bats for a .324 average with 15 home runs. He is getting on base at a .396 pace and his totals also include 43 RBIs and 34 runs scored. |
