Esparza Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Republics Friday, July 13th, 2018 Armando Esparza penned his name in the record books after an explosive home run spree against New Amsterdam. He's now among the select sluggers who have hit three home runs in a game. In his record-setting day at Damned Ballpark the Atlanta left fielder went 4-5 with 4 RBIs and scored 3 times in the 9-8 victory over the Republics. "It was just one of those days," he said in the postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." "Esparza was locked in," the New Amsterdam skipper said. "We made some pretty good pitches. Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's pretty hot right now. You've just got to tip your hat." Armando Esparza struck out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jorge Rodríguez in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Decheng Sun in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Gavin Blackburn in the 9th.
