Silver Booms 3 Homers
Saturday, July 5th, 2014
Today was a special one for Mike Silver of the Casper Ghosts as he slammed three home runs in the 10-4 win over the San Francisco Fog.
"Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game. I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em."
The Casper first baseman had quite a game at San Francisco Grounds as he collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, drove in 5, and scored 4 runs.
Mike Silver was hit by a pitch in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jason McKinney in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Júlio Magana in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off Ken Moss in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
This year Silver has hit 36 home runs and posted a .367 batting average.
