Castro Week's Best Player Monday, May 19th, 2014 Few players his age are still in the league, but Ernesto Castro of the Montreal Rivermen clearly loves the game and clearly he can still get the job done. Last week the 39-year-old right fielder hit the ball with the consistency of someone ten years younger, which made Castro a popular and well-deserved selection as League 2 Player of the Week. He paced the Rivermen attack by putting up a .565 batting average, 13 hits in 23 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 2 home runs. Castro also scored 5 runs. Thus far this season Castro has hit .309 with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 21 times. |
