Stanford Snaps Lewis's Streak at 21
Thursday, May 23rd, 2030
For 21 straight games, Riley Lewis tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 19-year-old Washington State Cougars center fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Stanford Cardinal. The Cardinal held him hitless in 3 at-bats at Bailey-Brayton Field today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 21.

There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Cougars took the win by the score of 13-6.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

Lewis is hitting .386 in 2030 with 39 RBIs and 8 home runs.
