Bang-up Game: Gómez Slams 3 Homers Friday, April 19th, 2030 It was a good day for the South Florida Bulls and an exceptional one for Javier Gómez. The 19-year-old shortstop sent three bombs out of the park to help the Bulls beat the Auburn Tigers 11-10 at Red McEwen Field. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Gómez said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 8 runs and smacked 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Javier Gómez hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Bill Barnes in the 3rd, was hit by a pitch in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Emílio Jiménez in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Chris Wright in the 9th and walked in the 11th. For the year Gómez is batting .315 with 6 home runs. |
