Virginia Snaps McClain's Streak at 23
Tuesday, April 16th, 2030
For 23 straight games, Ron McClain tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 20-year-old Cincinnati Bearcats first baseman can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Virginia Cavaliers. The Cavaliers held him hitless in 3 at-bats at Marge Schott Stadium today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 23.

There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Bearcats took the win by the score of 5-4.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

McClain is hitting .475 so far this season with 18 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He has 28 hits including 9 home runs, 13 walks and .569 OBP.
