83's End Hinkle's Streak Sunday, September 1st, 2030 It was a doubly miserable day today for Richard Hinkle of the Memphis Redbirds, as he saw his 22-game hitting streak end and his team lose 11-1 to the Blueville 83's at Little Phoenix Park. The 27-year-old first baseman was held hitless in 5 at-bats by the 83's. "Anyone on a 22-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Blueville manager Paco Medellín said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." This season Hinkle has banged out 101 hits in 289 at-bats for a .349 average with 26 home runs. He is getting on base at a .407 pace and his totals also include 69 RBIs and 51 runs scored. |
