Cards Win in Glorious Fashion
The Portland Cards did just enough to secure a 7-6 victory over the St Charles Sheens at The Kallipolis. Nobody did more than pitcher Jeff Brennan, who captured player of the game honors. Brennan got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 1 hit and walked 1 over 5 innings. Brennan allowed no earned runs. The Sheens, now 9-24, have lost 4 in a row.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Portland second baseman Giancarlo Giannini, facing Jesse Jones, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Cards the 7-6 win.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Brennan told the Portland Times.
