Tropics Turn Back New Orleans, 4-3
|
The Maui Tropics eked out a 4-3 win versus the New Orleans Looters at The Bayou at Heineken Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Ronald Cotton, who captured player of the game honors. Cotton went the distance for Maui. He gave up 3 earned runs on 9 hits. Maui's record now stands at 63-83, placing them last in the National League Western Division.
The Tropics got a big at-bat from right fielder Ernesto López. For the game, López went 2-4 with 2 singles. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 61st hit of the season gave Maui a 3-2 lead.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Cotton.
