Evans Rips New Orleans for 5 Hits
|
Howard Evans put on a hitting clinic today as the Baffin Island Beavers dumped the New Orleans Looters 9-2 at The Bayou at Heineken Field.
The Baffin Island third baseman made New Orleans defenders earn their pay, lashing New Orleans pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Evans said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Howard Evans hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Evans is hitting .313 so far this season with 96 RBIs and 75 runs scored. He has 150 hits including 27 home runs, 59 walks and .389 OBP.
