García, Pocatello Start Divisional Round Strong with Home Win
|
The Pocatello Bellas started the Divisional Round in style today, downing the visiting Vista Panthers at New BRO Stadium by a score of 5-4 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Bellas first baseman Roberto García was named player of the game after he was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
The Bellas took a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Facing Vista hurler Javier Moreno with one out, García hit a 3-run home run.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," García told the Pocatello Daily News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Andrew Caine for the Vista Panthers and Dionisio Penni for the the Pocatello Bellas.
