Fans who gathered at Rainbow Stadium saw a good contest between the Maui Tropics and San Francisco Bandits.
The Maui Tropics topped the San Francisco Bandits, 6-5, in National League action at Rainbow Stadium. The player of the game was Maui left fielder Luis Alou. Maui reliever Archie Summers was the winner. His record is now 2-4. The losing pitcher was Manuel Rodríguez.
Had Roberto Gómez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gómez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Tropics.
"It feels good to get this one," Alou told the Maui Daily News.
Maui is now 44-50, while San Francisco is 45-48.
