Late Rally by Pikes Secures Win
|
Jeremiah Moran pitched a gem to lead Seattle to a 2-0 victory over the Baffin Island Beavers. In 8 innings, Moran surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Francisco Carrasco got the save, his 17th in 19 chances.
The Pikes got a big at-bat from right fielder Manuel Rico. For the game, Rico was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Pikes manager Tim Wilson. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Even with the win, the Pikes have a dismal 29-55 record.
