Hitmen Clip Cards in Tight Contest
|
The Hendersonville Hitmen stopped the Portland Cards, 7-5, at Agent 47 Field. The Hitmen got a big game from Pedro Gonzáles, who went 2-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win was credited to Matthew Scott in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Eusébio Lagarto took the loss. Ignacio Morales, credited with the save, is now 7 for 10 in save opportunities.
The Hitmen got a big at-bat from shortstop Félix Montoya. For the game, Montoya was 1 for 4 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 10th double of the season gave Hendersonville a 7-5 lead.
Montoya told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
The Hitmen improve their record to 34-43 with the win over Portland.
