Collins Rips Purdue for 5 Hits
|
Alden Collins put on a hitting clinic today as the West Virginia Mountaineers dumped the Purdue Boilermakers 15-4 at Lambert Field.
The West Virginia second baseman made Purdue defenders earn their pay, lashing Purdue pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Collins said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Alden Collins walked in a run in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
