Irvin Rips Iowa State for 5 Hits
Mike Irvin put on a hitting clinic today as the Alabama Crimson Tide dumped the Iowa State Cyclones 22-2 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

The Alabama third baseman made Iowa State defenders earn their pay, lashing Iowa State pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."

"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Irvin said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."

Mike Irvin doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Loren Parker in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 5th and singled in the 8th.
