That's exactly what Leroy Bates did today at Ballpark of Grand Rapids HS, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 14-7. "It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Bates said. "Good things happen, when that happens." The Grand Rapids HS Summit catcher blistered the Bishop Amat HS for 4 hits, batted in 11 runs and scored 3 times. "It ain't like we weren't trying," Bishop Amat HS manager David Mendoza said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today." Leroy Bates hit a two-run home run off Roderick Fields in the 2nd, walked in a run in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Phil Dennis in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Bob Davis in the 8th. Bates is batting .361 this year with 12 home runs, 29 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 30 hits in 83 at-bats. |   |
