Kono Powers Kings to 7-4 Win
|
The Kansas City Kings defeated the Nassau Rockets, 7-4, in Continental League action at The Throne Room, with Kansas City designated hitter Toshimichi Kono named player of the game. Osvaldo Cruz picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 6-2. Nick Parks saved it for Kansas City.
Kansas City grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Kono, who is tied for 6th in the CL in home runs with 14, hit a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season put the Kings out in front, 5-3.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Kono told the Kansas City News.
The Kings bumped their record to 26-20 with this latest triumph.
