| Lucchi Hot, Wranglers Cold | The BlackIron Dragons did little to support starter Júlio Lucchi against the Wichita Wranglers, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Wranglers, striking out 5 and surrendering 1 hit. The performance from Lucchi allowed BlackIron to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Júlio, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Lucchi told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
To date this season Lucchi sports a 9-4 mark with a 2.38 ERA in 18 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .182 batting average and has 131 strikeouts in 124.2 innings. |
